U.S. Ambassador to Angola and Director of National HIV/AIDS Institute attend Angola premiere of Inside Story

U.S. Ambassador Christopher J. McMullen is interviewed by the Angolan Press at the premier of Inside Story in Luanda

“The Building Local Capacity for the Delivery of HIV Services in Southern Africa project (BLC) hosted a premier of the feature film Inside Story: The Science of HIV and AIDS in collaboration with USAID Angola and the National HIV/AIDS Institute in Angola (INLS) on February 13, 2013.

“Inside Story is a feature-length film created for an African audience, combining the best of fiction and non-fiction to unravel the mystery of HIV and empower people with the knowledge they need to make informed health decisions. Inside Story combines the fictional story of a rising soccer star with an animated journey of the virus inside the human body.

“The U.S. Ambassador to Angola, Christopher J. McMullen, and the Director of the National HIV/AIDS Institute in Angola, Dr. Ducelina Serrano, spoke at the premier, both emphasizing the importance of HIV prevention in Angola and the role of the film as a prevention tool, particularly for youth. A total of 150 guests attended the event, including the DCM and other officials from the US Embassy, the USAID Mission Director and other officials from USAID Angola, Angola’s Deputy Minister of the Interior, officials from Angola’s Ministry of Health and the INLS, and representatives from the Center for Disease Control, Chevron Corporation, and various local civil society organizations. The premier also received coverage from the Angolan press.”
